The Tom Sachs x Nike Craft General Purpose Shoe “Grey” is the latest pair to come out of the artist’s ongoing partnership with Nike, and thanks to it’s toned-down colourway, it could just be the most practical version of the model yet.
Whilst most iterations started off with a cream-coloured base, the “Grey” version swaps this out for – you guessed it – a grey ballistic mesh upper, accented with tonal touches of grey suede at the toecaps, eyestays and heels. To add to the sneaker’s practical vibe, the cupped sole unit has also been given a greyed-out makeover. Breaking up the otherwise monochrome look, pops of colour come from red oversized tongue and heel tabs, as well as the bright white Nike Swooshes which decorate the lateral and medial sidewalls. Finally, Nike branding hits the top of the tongue, and the Swoosh brand’s wordmark also appears in Sachs’ handwriting on the heel of the shoe.
