Creator of RHUDE Rhuigi Villaseñor has partnered up with PUMA to celebrate 50 years of Hip-Hop. The owner took to his Instagram account, tastefully capturing the collaborative pair of Suede atop a set of plastic crates, captioning the post, “A tribute to NYC and 50 years of hip-hop. #PUMAxRhuigi is back for more.” As mentioned by Rhuigi himself, the two have already partnered up twice in the past, with this pair Suede “B-Boy” arguably being the best to date.
The pair arrives with a washed pink suede that forms the majority of the upper, bearing a simple cream Formstrip along the sidewall. Below, an off-white midsole continues the vintage aesthetic, playing into the story that recognises the musical genre and the B-Boys who played a huge role in its rise. A faux-reptile leather is used on the heel panel, with a central cut-out reading “19” and “91” respectively. Fat cream laces come threaded onto the upper, a detail that bears in mind historical context because thick laces were highly respected among the B-Boys and hustlers in the Bronx during the ‘70s. This edition also comes packed with a set of red and white thick-cut laces for whatever custom lace combination you wish to choose.
The Rhuigi Villaseñor x PUMA Suede will be dropping on April 1st via the PUMA website as well as select retailers. Rhuigi doesn’t leave room for much else, serving up a combination of great storytelling and a clean colourway that results in this top-tier Suede iteration. Tune into The Sole Supplier to find out how to pick up your own pair!
