The Nike Waffle Racer Green Abyss is a fresh new colorway of one of the oldest Nike silhouettes in existence. All these years later, and it still manages to look on trend! The Waffle Racer was an early Nike prototype developed by co-founder Bill Bowerman. Bowerman designed the waffle sole by using his wife’s waffle iron in his garage, single-handedly creating one of the most innovative designs in footwear history.
Ever since, the waffle sole has remained a constant throughout Nike’s releases, with the label often honouring the original Waffle Racer with re-releases. Seen here in a blue and neutral rendition, the pair are crafted from supple suede and canvas, with a large Nike Swoosh logo running across both sides.
The slick silhouette takes on an angular shape, with details such as a foam tongue and NIKE typeface logo at the heel completing the look. Underfoot, light midsole cushioning is present alongside the iconic black waffle outsole.
