The Travis Scott x Nike collaborations always manage to slide their way into the ‘Top 10 of the Year collection’ for most sneakerheads, especially the Air Jordan 1 iterations. Travis tackles the Air Jordan 1 Low not for the first time, but now without the help of pre-release hype surrounding the colourway or a third-party collaborator from the likes of fragment design. This “Phantom Black” Air Jordan 1 Low is arguably his most stripped-back sneaker till now, putting aside failsafe colourways in order to challenge his creative toolkit.
A deep black swallows the entire shoe, cloaking the different layers of panelling that are only made clear thanks to a white contrast stitching. Similar to the gold stitching and black midsole on the Air Jordan 1 High “Black Metallic Gold”, a contrasting white stitch can be found on this Travis Scott pair, following the theme up above. A set of black waxed laces add to the premium feel of the upper, an idea that is implied through the mixture of soft suede that underlays the nappy suede panels. This is a detail which can only be truly appreciated when seen up close, all because the triple black colourway refuses to ask for attention. Co-branding can be seen through the heel embroidery, insole print and a subtle vertical “Cactus” logo that hides underneath the Swoosh. The most obvious feature that points to the presence of a Travis Scott collaboration is, of course, the reverse Swoosh; a symbol within sneakerhead culture.
This Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 Low “Triple Black” keeps it low-key, to say the least, making these an easy pick for anyone’s rotation (that is if you manage to secure a pair). These are set to drop on the 15th of December but if you want to stand a chance of adding these to the collection, stay locked in with us over at The Sole Supplier for more information on the drop.
