Vintage runners are fast approaching, thankfully leaving behind the short shorts and tank tops that were often part of the uniform. The footwear giant Nike is set to be releasing a number of its retro runners in 2023, looking to the 80s archives for this upcoming Air Pegasus 89. Dropping as a pack of three, this pair is drabbed in a mixture of grey hues, keeping it simple with its first foot forward.

Boasting the OG shape from the shoe’s original release in the late 80s, Nike has done its best to stay true to the tooling of the silhouette. A nylon toe box maintains breathability and is the choice of material for the main construction of the upper. Providing contrast are the overlaying panels which are cut from a light grey suede, sticking to the monochromatic colourway. One of the shoe’s most unique features is the mesh vents which occupy the heel counter, which during its original 80s release, was a huge step forward in terms of air-flow technology. The only other form of colour that’s visible on the upper is used on the tongue and heel branding, the dark burgundy doing well to stay on track with the subtle theme of the shoe.
