After the success of Nikeβs βBig Bubbleβ campaign, it was only a matter of time before we started seeing a crop of new colourways in the new β86 silhouette. Due to all the research & development that went into re-tooling the Air Max 1 into its β86 version, it only makes sense for Nike to continue its rollout instead of tucking them away in the archive again. As part of the first new set of colourways, non-profit organisation Kids of Immigrants have hosted events in which the four limited make-ups were up for sale. Now KOI is doing a panel discussion in collaboration with DSML on the 21st of April, weβll be interested to see whether or not there will be a UK release.
Similar to the βSmokey Mauveβ edition that is also part of the capsule, the βMetallic Gold Grainβ opts for a selection of brown hues, here in a similar arrangement to the AM1 βAmsterdamβ from 2020. The darker shade of brown tracks along the mudguard, up onto the Swoosh and the outsole below. Other overlay sections are cut from a tan suede, with a set of matching flat laces threaded onto the upper. Breaking up the palette is a traditional white midsole and mesh, with the retro nylon ankle collar a specific design choice for the Big Bubble comeback.
Releasing in small quantities over in the states via Kids of Immigrantβs charity event, weβll be eager to see whether or not the Nike Air Max 1 βMetallic Goldβ will receive a UK release. For more updates on this release, keep it locked to The Sole Supplier!
