Taking on the silhouette which made its debut during this year’s Air Max Day celebrations, this may look like any old AM2090 from a distance, but upon further inspection you’ll be presented with a ton of unique details that pay homage to the Paris Saint Germain superstar’s life.

With a premium nubuck base, the Black is overlaid with fuzzy suede at the toe box and smooth leather across the lacing system and mudguards. Towards the laterals, the terms “Sao Vincente” and “Praia Grande” can be seen as an ode to the football icon’s adopted home, while “Jardim Gloria” and “Nautica III” decorate the medials to pay homage to his football school and childhood neighbourhood. A luxe gold Swoosh elegantly glides across upper, and the tongues are inserted with a pair of glossy plastic pull tabs that result in a rugged aesthetic.

As the Air Max 2090 is a contemporary take on the classic Air Max 90, you shouldn’t be surprised to find that the midsole is just a beefed up version of the OG Air unit. Dipped in a stealthy palette, it’s then lined with a deep red rubber outsole, finalising the “Triple Black” look.
