Korean-based JUUN.J teams up with PUMA for an unconventional take on future footwear. Having worked with other brands in the past such as Reebok and adidas, JUUN.J’s following can always look forward to his modern approach to design. Transferring his understanding of classic tailoring and youth culture, JUUN.J delves into this collaboration fixated on how PUMA’s archive translates into the future decades of footwear.
The Korean designer has been dealt the honour of debuting the Plexus, a new silhouette from PUMA. The sole here mimics the previous RSX and Thunder silhouettes with its wavy profile, dissolving the bite line with its overlapping toe and heel. Mimicking the brand’s sidewall Formstrip are the two heavy rope laces that weave in and out of the shoe’s upper that is held together by a black carabiner. Constructed from a range of suede, leather and mesh, each panel has been thoughtfully considered to ensure durability, while the bootie entry and pull tab make for easy access.
Fans of both adidas’ Y-3 Division and JUUN.J’s previous work have a lot to look forward to with the release of the Plexus, a silhouette that holds a promising sign for PUMA’s forward direction. The JUUN.J x PUMA Plexus “Triple Black” is set to release on April 7th so for more on how to pick up a pair, keep it locked to The Sole Supplier!
