Legendary skateboarder Jason Dill warms up for another go at the adidas Samba in 2023. Having dropped a Snakeskin-themed Samba back in 2020, Dill is no stranger to the 3-Striped footballing icon. Throughout the ‘90s, skateboarders made the silhouette their own, engraining this classic silhouette into the heart of skate culture. This eventually led to the creation of the adidas Busenitz, the German footwear brand’s first skate-specific shoe, however Dill emerges with a collaboration on the pair that started it all.
Opting for clean white and black leather tooling, this edition is very closely attached to its original DNA. On the tongue lies Dill’s signature, here in a gold foil that you’d normally associate with the model’s sidewall branding. On the front lies a leather toe panel, foregoing the usual hit of suede and keeping the upper completely based in the one material. A semi-translucent midsole is the most obvious sign of collaboration, contrasting the simple aesthetic with Dill’s contemporary palette. Matching the touch of gold on the tongue is the insole print, boasting an adidas Trefoil logo and wordmark against a black leather backdrop. If you’re after a tasteful Samba edition that’s also steeped in skating history, then this Jason Dill iteration should be on your list!
While this pair did drop back in April ’22, quantities were very limited, so this second release is for all those who either completely missed them or didn’t luck out. These will drop as a draw on the adidas CONFIRMED app on April 1st as well as other select retailers. For more information on the Jason Dill x adidas Samba drop, keep it locked to The Sole Supplier!
