After uniting forces with fragment design back in February for a series of limited edition Converse Chuck Taylor By You, the two delve back into the basketball archives. Setting eyes on the Converse Weapon, a shoe that reigned supreme on the court during the late ‘80s, streetwear-legend Hiroshi Fujiwara knew exactly what to do when reintroducing the icon.
At one point in time, the Converse Weapon was the shoe to have, with Larry Bird and Magic Johnson themselves wearing them throughout the ’86-’90 basketball seasons. Since then, the retros have failed to grab the attention of sneakerheads, with the retro 2010 and CX Mid iterations falling short of the mark. However, with Fujiwara at the helm, this could finally redeem the once-revered silhouette.
Recrafting the Weapon’s entire tooling from top to bottom, this version remains the closest to the original for over three decades. With this being a fragment design collaboration, Converse has spared no expense on the upper, choosing a supple leather for each of the panels. Fujiwara employs his typical palette once again, with a signature mix of white, blue and black seen throughout past projects such as the Air Jordan 1 High OG SP fragment x Travis Scott from ’21 and even the Jordan 1 Retro High from ’14. Another signature detail is the fragment design lightning bolt logo, taking up its usual position on the lateral heel.
Dropping on May 11th, grab yourself an iconic collaboration with this FRGMT x Converse Weapon “White Sport Royal Blue”. For more updates on where you can pick these up, keep it tuned to The Sole Supplier!
