Footpatrol X Mizuno Wave Rider 10 Rust

The natural world seems to be a recurring theme for sneaker brands in 2022, with a number of them looking to the great outdoors or ‘Gorpcore’-like looks for inspiration. As part of its 20th-anniversary celebrations, retailer Footpatrol has joined forces with Mizuno for a pair that celebrates the great outdoors: the Footpatrol x Mizuno Wave Rider 10 “Rust”.

The inspiration behind the Footpatrol x Mizuno Wave Rider is focused on the weathering process and subsequent erosion and arrives in a mixed-material construction of rough-and-ready mesh, leather and hairy suede. This mix alludes to the depth of the process, as elements are chipped away over time. Muted, earthy hues of brown, purple and green take over the entirety of the upper, again referencing the colours seen at various stages of the erosion process.

Mizuno’s Runbird insignia takes up its usual spot on the sneaker’s sidewalls, whilst a co-branded jeweled detail sits at the heel. The pair then comes packed with the brand’s Wave Technology, which provides added cushioning, stability and energy return for added all-terrain comfort.
