194 Local, a vintage specialist shop in London, is linking up with Reebok to create a two-shoe capsule. With the Beatnik MOC acting as the canvas, 194 Local opt for a texture-heavy toolkit that takes the silhouette down an unfamiliar path that it’s more than capable of handling. The “Black” pair in particular is the best of both worlds, packed with detail yet simple enough to work into your varied wardrobe.
The main forefoot area is made of faux-pony hair, with the Beatnik’s signature split down the centre of the shoe. Just below is the mudguard, formed from a hairy suede that hides an embroidered vector logo between its nappy detailing. Around the ankle collar is where the 194 Local has moved towards a boot-like aesthetic, with a faux-sheep fur used to add cushioning and warmth around the foot opening. Co-branding on the rear pull tab keeps logos to a minimum, with a “194” surrounded by embroidered stars quietly announcing the presence of the collaborative edition.
If you’ve been thinking of grabbing yourself a pair of Reebok Beatniks, then the 194 Local “Black” iteration is a solid choice. Other collaborative editions such as the Needles and Mountain Research pairs have not added greatly to the overall price point so the extra cost shouldn’t factor in too heavily on these. Keep it tuned to The Sole Supplier for more information on how to pick up your pair!
